Idea Finalized + Development

Final plot chosen: THE CREEPY ELEVATOR

Following a discussion between team members, we selected the plot for the following reasons:

- Location is simple to use, easy to find, and located quickly. The setting is more traditional yet timeless to use; it frequently appears in old horror films. There'll be a range of angles and shots can be filmed through the choice of location, as the elevator and stairs are narrow, which could also display a fear of cramped quarters.  - claustrophobia.

------------------------------------------------------------

1. What happens in the opening sequence

a boy walking home, towards a run-down apartment

- he goes to the elevator, he’s confused about whether to press the 5th or 4th floor because he doesn’t remember whether the apartment house was on either of the floors. He decided to go to the 5th floor

The elevator opens, and he goes out looking for the apartment numbers along the corridors, however, he doesn’t find it, so he walks back to the elevator. The elevator once opened again and this time, inside was a mystery lady. He feels chills to his bone about the lady's appearance

- She wears a red dress, long black hair, bold red makeup, and wears black pearl necklace. There's something off about her, he can feel it (the things she’s wearing remind him about something).

Flashback about his dad cheating with an identical lady,  causing a cold chill in the boy’s back and a little mess in his mental state.

Flashback scene - Ben saw his dad drive home. But as the door opened, a silky long dress going down the lady's hair was long and she was wearing a big floppy hat. Following that was Ben's dad, they went down the white car and the lady started to hug Ben's dad. As she slowly looked upward and directly at Ben's eyes, she smirked and kissed Ben's dad.

- she gives out a mystery lady vibe and as he smells something is off, he then chooses to go down the stairs instead.

- Surprisingly,  when he arrives at floor 7, the elevator opens again. It was the lady waiting for him inside again

- He rushes to the 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd floor to avoid meeting the lady. However, the elevator keeps open every time it goes down another floor.  Making the situation more weirdly strange and uncomfortable tension builds up. Build up a slight of horror in the boys' thoughts.

- Finally after at floor 1. The elevator opens again, and he takes the courage to ask the lady inside:

“Excuse me, are you’re resident here”

- The lady tilts her head up a bit, and a slight smile appears at the corner of her mouth. She was smirking at the boy.

2. Where will this take place (location of the film)

List of apartments that will meet the requirements to film the elevator scene

- a run-down apartment or dark-coloured apartment

The apartment also needs to have stairs to run down (with permission to shoot).

- Elevator with no mirror in the back to avoid reflection when filming

*Can use different places, film separately not in the same building however the walking stairs and elevators need to look alike, (match the vibe, scene, and corridors)*

1. Vinschool: secondary / primary

=> notes: make the stairs look narrower like in an apartment by shot from bird' eyes view or worm eye view => can be used for a draft version

2. Win D net

Vinhomes Central Park: P6

=> notes: elevator has a mirror, stairs need to ask permission to shoot

3. Masteri apartment

Amelia’s study place

=> notes: has a small apartment that may suit the concept

Some of the alternative versions our group had considered

Version 1: the lady looks like a tango dancer, who usually appears in the boy's dream. She has a fierce, like - bird full of red makeup to appear stronger, and in control. Her hair is neatly tied in a bun She was holding a knife, her head slightly tilted down waiting for the student in the elevator

Version 2: the boy goes to the apartment to find his dad, however, he can’t find his dad and when he returns to the elevator he sees the lady there, waiting for him => the boy's dad went missing

Version 3: a lady wears a red dress that covers her full hands and legs, she wears a big floppy hat that signifies mystery, to appear more private and cover up her identity. With jewellery and bold lipstick, the specific scent of perfume. She has this devious smile that scared the student.

In summary, our group have come up with many different versions of the opening sequence however these are the most specific and related versions of the opening sequence that we’re aiming to create. I think that we can add something from Version 3 to the opening sequences such as bold makeup, and a big floppy hat to add mystery and cover the identity of the lady, the lady has specific scent would be nice but I reckon it would be hard to portrait on a 2 minutes short clip, other versions I choose to not pursue was because it is not easy to present, might not be doable than the last version.
