Film Poster Planning & Final Outcome
Even though, the film poster wasn't a part of the brief. However, it is a significant factor needed to advertise our film project, just like a book the covers attract the reader. Therefore having a film poster can increase the impression of the audience.
Our idea for the film poster is to reveal the appearance of our antagonist, Red Dress Lady. But still remains her mystery enigma towards the audience. Our first poster contains a long shot of a Red Dress lady standing inside the elevator, which is the place where the protagonist, Duy and the antagonist meet. This is a common shot used for elevators involving the media. After several edits, the poster became horror which also led us to an uneasy feeling when looking into it.
We found an ideal film poster to take inspiration from, however, when we tried the hat of our antagonist was too big therefore the pose wasn’t perfect.
Typography: we chose the colour red for our title since red is considered our main colour. Red involved the dress (main focal point), our film title therefore red is the most suitable. The trickiest part was choosing fonts, first I tried with vintage calligraphy so that the overall mood of the poster would be similar to a 1900s horror film however it didn't fit well since our elevator is modern.
Media post: While planning the film poster, we plan several ideas for our media post as well. The main idea is to expose a little hint of our character’s costume. Our post also reveals the Red Dress Lady in the elevator looking at Duy, who walks past the elevator looking in at the note on his hand. This is an interesting post, portraying the curiosity of the audience that the Red Dress Lady had followed Duy earlier than when they first met.
